September is Yoga Month – Free Community Classes

In recognition of National Yoga Month, Imagine Fitness and Yoga is offering several free classes focused on yoga for your health.  Sign up here.

Thursday, Sept. 3rd  6:30 – 8:00 pm – Yoga for Athletes – Lisa Hesse

Yoga For Athletes- The Mindful Athlete workshop

This workshop would include breath work, guided imagery and meditation as well as a yoga sequence that is appropriate for all levels of yoga and athletic experience. The yoga poses chosen will help attendees increase flexibility, especially in the hips and legs; spend some time cultivating sport-specific core strength, and include some poses that play with balance and strength.

 

Saturday, Sept 12th,11:00am- noon – Fit Yoga and Functional Training – Marie Morgan/Marty Betts

The workshop combines balance, flexibility and strength building in both a yoga practice and circuit workout.  Marie will lead you through a series of gentle cardiac warm up, functional strength exercises and basic balance routines.  After ½ hour with Marie, you will move into the Yoga room for stretching and core strengthening through gentle poses.  Marty Betts, a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor, will guide complete the one hour session.

 

Sunday, Sept 20th 10:30-11:30 am – Yoga for Back Care – Sam Lieberman

Saturday, September 26th 10:00 – 11:00 am – Yoga for Back Care – Sam Lieberman

Who doesn’t experience back pain?  Sam Lieberman will show you how gentle stretches can improve the strength and flexibility of your back.

 

Saturday, September 19th, 10:30-11:30 am – Yoga to Relax & Renew – Rachel Garcia

What are the gentle yoga poses you can use throughout the day to relieve stress and tension?  Enjoy a 1 hour session with Rachel as she teaches you some gentle movements and poses to relax your body.

 

Sunday, September 27th 9:00-10:00- Yoga for Chronic Illnesses for those dealing with a long term health issue such as cancer, diabetes, or chronic pain- Wendy Dolen

Wendy has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and believes that yoga gives us the opportunity to explore our body’s capabilities through movement.  She has focused her professional efforts on teaching people how to be physically active and love it!  Wendy is an exercise physiologist for MHealthy, Health and Well-Being Services at the University of Michigan.  She enjoys teaching to help people reach their healthy lifestyle potential.

Sunday, September 28th, 9:00-10:00 – Bare Bones Beginner Yoga – John Farah

That’s It – Bare Bones for the ABSOLUTE beginner!  Come enjoy a one hour session with Dr. Farah and learn how to get started with yoga and enjoy it for a lifetime.
